    The "good news" of taking action to reduce (mitigate) climate change and to adapt to a changing climate is that some steps to reduce carbon pollution can improve health in two ways. Obviously, by reducing climate change effects, that is good for human health. But some steps also have co-benefits for health -- side effects that improve health in other ways.

    For example, walking or riding a bike avoids the carbon exhaust of driving -- and it is good for circulatory health (heart and arteries), and good for mood.

    Eating more vegetables and less meat is good for the planet -- and good for digestion and reducing obesity.

    Burning less coal slows climate change -- and also reduces asthma and heart disease associated with soot.
