Athletes, coaches, and officials have each been considered performers in their own right and parents are regarded throughout the chapter as key stakeholders in sport. The chapter reports a myriad of stressors that can be experienced and highlights some of the commonalities and differences between stressors encountered by athletes, coaches, officials, and parents. The helpful or unhelpful implications that stress has for well-being and performance is likely to depend on how individuals appraise and cope with stressors. All elements of stress transactions should be considered from an interpersonal perspective that recognizes the complex networks of people who are involved in sport.
