    Epithelial Tissues on the Microscope

Observe the following epithelia. Remember to follow the microscopy procedure outlined in the microscopy lab!

Please focus each slide to 400x total magnification and take the image of the slide at 400x.

    • Stratified squamous epithelium, label the following structures on this slide:
      1. Stratified squamous epithelial cells
      2. Connective tissue
      3. Apical surface
      4. Basal surface
    • Simple cuboidal epithelium, label the following structures on this slide:
      1. Simple cuboidal epithelial cells
      2. Connective tissue
      3. Lumen
      4. Apical surface
      5. Basal surface
    • Simple columnar epithelium (Jejunum), label the following structures on this slide:
      1. Simple columnar epithelial cells
      2. Connective tissue
      3. Apical surface
      4. Basal surface
    • Pseudostratified ciliated columnar epithelium (Trachea), label the following structures on this slide:
      1. Pseudostratified columnar epithelial cells
      2. Cilia
      3. Goblet cells
      4. Connective tissue
      5. Apical surface
      6. Basal surface

    Connective Tissues on the Microscope

Observe the following connective tissue. Remember to follow the microscopy procedure outlined in the microscopy lab!

Please focus each slide to 400x total magnification and take the image of the slide at 400x.

    • Areolar connective tissue, label the following structures on this slide:
      1. Ground substance
      2. Fibroblast
      3. Collagen fibers
      4. Elastic fibers
    • Adipose connective tissue, label the following structures on this slide:
      1. Adipocyte
      2. Fat droplet
    • Dense connective tissue (White fibrous), label the following structures on this slide:
      1. Fibroblast
      2. Ground substance
      3. Collagen fibers
    • Hyaline cartilage (Trachea), label the following structures on this slide:
      1. Extracellular matrix
      2. Chondrocyte

30 structures to be labelled = 0.5pts each.
