Summary

Public health efforts have been complicated, controversial, and an essential part of the social fabric for eons. While the intentions of many public health efforts have been noble - to prevent diseases and improve living conditions - the implementation of public health strategies is not always equitable or effective. As public health practitioners, we must learn from both the achievements and failures of the past in order to create the kind of future that will benefit health for all.
