Part C: Body Frame Estimations
A. A fast way to get a general idea of your frame is taking your middle finger and thumb wrapped around your wrist in the boney part. If your fingers overlap with a finger nail- you are thin framed, if they touch you are probably mid-sized, and if they barely touch or do not touch at all you are possibly wide framed.
B. A better estimation is to use your thumb and index finger on each side of your elbow when it is bent 90 degrees. Put your finger and thumb on a ruler immediately after. If you move your finger, repeat the measurement. Use the inside surface of the thumb and index finger to figure out the breadth of the elbow.
C. The chart (right) is for medium frame. So if you are a male 5’ 9” or 69 inches tall and your wrist breadth was 2 ½ inches you would be thin framed, and above 3” you would be wide framed.
D. Wrist circumference is likely an easier method. Get a tape measure or string and find your wrist circumference (firm not binding).
Wrist circumference women:
- Height under 5'2"
· Small = wrist size less than 5.5"
· Medium = wrist 5.5" to 5.75"
· Large = wrist over 5.75"
- Height 5'2" to 5' 5"
· Small = wrist size less than 6"
· Medium = wrist 6" to 6.25"
· Large = wrist over 6.25"
- Height over 5' 5"
· Small = wrist size less than 6.25"
· Medium = wrist 6.25" to 6.5"
· Large = wrist over 6.5"
Wrist circumference men:
- Height over 5' 5"
· Small = wrist size 5.5" to 6.5"
· Medium = wrist 6.5" to 7.5"
· Large = wrist over 7.5"
