    Gastritis

    Gastritis is a common digestive disorder characterized by acute or chronic stomach lining inflammation. Gastritis can be caused by taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), excessive alcohol consumption, stress, and infectious agents. The symptoms of gastritis can vary but commonly include abdominal pain or discomfort, nausea and vomiting, bloating, heartburn, anorexia, blood in feces or vomitus, and unexplained weight loss. Treatment goals for gastritis are alleviating symptoms, reducing inflammation, and addressing underlying causes. Patients may be prescribed proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), antacids, or H2-receptor antagonists to reduce stomach acid. Patients are instructed to avoid irritants such as alcohol, spicy foods, and NSAIDs and to adopt dietary changes and stress reduction techniques.

    Peptic Ulcers

    Peptic ulcers are open sores that develop on the stomach lining, small intestine, or sometimes the esophagus. Peptic ulcers can occur due to varied factors, including Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection, taking NSAIDs, smoking, and alcohol consumption. The most common symptoms of peptic ulcers include a burning or gnawing pain in the upper abdomen, usually between meals or during the night, bloating, nausea and vomiting, anorexia, unexplained weight loss, and bloody or dark stools. The treatment of peptic ulcers depends on the underlying cause but often includes PPIs, antacids, H2-receptor antagonists, and an antibiotic regimen if the cause is H. pylori.
