Macrolide	Azithromycin	Zithromax	pneumonia, sinusitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, otitis media	GI upset is common. Take it with food. Avoid excessive sunlight and wear protection when outside.

Nitrofuran	Nitrofurantoin	Macrobid	urinary tract infections	GI upset is common. Take it with food.
Nitroimidazole antimicrobial	Metronidazole	Flagyl	clostridium difficle, skin infections, oral and dental infections, parasites (giardia)	Take drugs with food and plenty of water. Do not drink alcohol while taking and for 48 hours after the course is completed.
Penicillin	Amoxicillin	Amoxil	pneumonia, streptococcal infections, staphylococcal infections, syphilis, anthrax, diphtheria, bacterial endocarditis	It's best taken on an empty stomach. Allergic reactions are common.

Take 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals. Do not give to children or lactating mothers; it will stain teeth. Avoid direct sunlight.
