    Kimberly B. McLain

    Kimberly B. McLain is the Curricula Course Developer for the “Foundations for Assisting in Home Care”, a MOOC hosted on the Coursera website. She is the main author for the accompanying open text, Foundations for Assisting in Home Care. Kimberly McLain is an Assistant Professor at SUNY Broome Community College, teaching in the Medical Assisting and Health Science Department. She has previously taught courses in psychology and counseling at Ithaca College, SUNY Cortland, and the University at Buffalo. Kimberly holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education with a concentration in teaching from the University at Buffalo, a Masters in Community Counseling from the University of Scranton, a Bachelors in Psychology from Binghamton University, and Associates degrees in both Nursing and Medical Assisting from SUNY Broome Community College. Kimberly is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Registered Nurse in the State of New York. She has extensive experience in the fields of nursing, mental health, and education.

    Andrea C. Wade

    Dr. Andrea C. Wade is currently serving as Provost and Vice President of Academic Services at Monroe Community College. Dr. Wade’s expertise in higher education includes more than 20 years of experience teaching and coordinating learning experiences in classroom, laboratory, clinical, and online modalities. Her administrative areas of interest and expertise include institutional and programmatic accreditation, curriculum development, workforce development, and shared governance. She has written and/or served as the Principal Investigator or Project Director for a number of grants related to healthcare, workforce, and instructional technologies.

    Dr. Wade holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology/Medical Technology from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.; and a Master of Science and Doctorate in Microbiology from the University of Notre Dame. She served as a Research Fellow at Notre Dame’s LOBUND Laboratory, where her research focused on tumor and transplant immunology. Her academic teaching career began at Indiana University South Bend and at St. Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana. Her career transitioned to the healthcare industry, where she served in both technical and administrative roles in the clinical laboratory, advancing to the position of Clinical Laboratory Manager. Dr. Wade returned to academia at SUNY Broome Community College, eventually attaining the rank of tenured full Professor and also earning the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. She then transitioned into higher education administration at SUNY Broome, where she held responsibility for Distance Education, Professional Development, Adult Education, and the Health Sciences Division as Associate Vice President and Dean.

    Erin O'Hara-Leslie

    Erin O’Hara-Leslie, MS Ed., BS, AAS, CMA (AAMA). Erin has worked at SUNY Broome Community College since the fall of 2004. She has been the Chairperson and Assistant Professor in the Medical Assisting & Health Studies Department since 2011. Erin manages the Health Studies, AAS/AS degrees, Medical Assisting, AAS degree, and Medical Administrative Skills Certificate program. She manages all administrative functions and her department services a combined total of approximately 800+ traditional and nontraditional students. Additionally, she has been the Project Manager and SUNY liaison for Coursera-SUNY Broome Massive Open Online Course: Foundations for Assisting in Home Care. Erin also manages Fast Forward courses from the Health Studies degree and is the Coordinator for the Health Studies Degree program for the Pathways in Technology and Early High School (PTECH) summer program. Furthermore, Erin has served as Chairperson for SUNY Broome Community Colleges Shared Governance and serves on and chairs numerous committees on campus. In the spring of 2016, Erin was the recipient of the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Faculty Service. She has also worked in the capacity of grant writer, academic advisor, counselor, and public health educator. Erin is a graduate of Buffalo State with a Master’s Degree in Adult Education, SUNY Cortland with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Education, and SUNY Broome with an Associate’s Degree in Medical Assisting.
