One of the important roles of public health is to communicate accurate and up-to-date health information to the public. Now more than ever, it is apparent how easily misinformation can spread quickly and change human behavior, eventually causing harm. This “infodemic” also promotes distrust in public health agencies and science in general. Well-conducted research and clear communication are essential tools in the battle against misinformation and supporting public health.
