This excess acid production can lead to various gastrointestinal symptoms, including heartburn, regurgitation, abdominal discomfort, and in severe cases can contribute to the development of conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and peptic ulcer disease (PUD).
Hyperacidity can result from factors such as dietary choices, lifestyle habits, certain medications, or underlying medical conditions. This chapter will review drugs used to treat and manage hyperacidity disorders, including GERD and PUD.
