Dermatology focuses on conditions affecting the skin, hair, nails, and mucous membranes. Because dermatologic conditions are often visible and chronic, encounters may involve long-term management, lifestyle counseling, and emotionally sensitive discussions about appearance, pain, or cancer risk.

Interpreters working in dermatology must be especially precise when conveying visual descriptions, medication instructions, and procedural explanations.
