( \newcommand{\kernel}{\mathrm{null}\,}\)

What is Carbonation

Click this link to learn about carbonation and how it is used.

Sparkling Water

  • Sparkling water: This type of water simply has carbon dioxide gas dissolved in it naturally which gives it that bubbly/fizzy feature. Because it is from a natural water source, it also already contains minerals which can differ based on the source of the water.
  • Tonic water: similar to sparkling water, this type of water has carbon dioxide gas dissolved in it but it has minerals added to it artificially as well as a compound called quinine (derived from bark of cinchona trees) which gives it a bitter taste. Often sweetened.
  • Club soda: similar to sparkling water, this type of water has carbon dioxide gas dissolved in it but it has minerals added to it artificially.
  • Seltzer water: This is the same as sparkling water with the main difference being that it carbon dioxide is added in artificially rather than from a natural source.
